Best Dining Apps of 2017

Whether you’re headed out for a night of fine dining or eating Chinese food at home in your pajamas (both sound decisions), everyone likes to have choices about where to go and what to eat. Restaurant reviews from other customers help us choose where to go, while food delivery apps are perfect for those days when you just want someone else to handle the cooking. But how do you know where your best dining options lie? We took a look at some of the best dining apps of 2017 and narrowed them down for you.

Yelp

Yelp was founded in 2004 to help people find local businesses in their area. Their services are not limited to restaurants (they’ll help you find reviews for anything from hairdressers to mechanics) and they have an enormous database of user reviews. With nearly 26 million visitors using the app monthly, you can be sure that the new restaurant you’ve been eyeing has got a review or two on Yelp.

Postmates

This 24/7 delivery system is unique from others because of its expansive list of restaurant choices. They don’t just offer delivery for fine dining – they cover everything in between. Whether it’s a delectable cuisine or french fries from McDonald’s that you’re craving, they’ve got you covered.

Zomato (previously Urbanspoon)

Zomato allows you to compare restaurant choices by rating, distance, cuisines and popularity levels. This app is incredibly useful for those traveling to a new city. Their mission, proudly boasted on their website’s homepage, is “to ensure nobody has a bad meal.” Used in over 10,000 cities across 23 countries, Zomato strives to find you the best places to eat no matter where in the world you may be.

Happy Hour Finder

Happy Hour Finder uses your phone’s location and data to find the happy hour deals closest to where you are at that moment. The app searches for deals based on your current location, but you can also input an address and it will generate suggestions of bars nearby.

Starbucks App

Starbucks Rewards App

Starbucks junkies, look no further. If you can’t survive without your daily boost of caffeine, this app is a must. This app has the entire Starbucks menu, and you can use it to order ahead and skip the line. With your Starbucks account, you’ll collect Stars and and earn free rewards with every purchase.

Grubhub

Yet another food delivery app, Grubhub offers both mobile and online platforms, allowing diners to order directly from over 50,000 takeout restaurants. The company monitors each order with their 24/7 customer service teams.

Nowait

Now owned by Yelp, Nowait is a dining app that allows you to virtually wait in line at your favorite restaurants. Restaurants update their app to provide accurate wait times, so all you have to do is add yourself to any list and they’ll send you a text when your table is ready. This is beneficial for both customers and restaurateurs, because you don’t have to waste your precious time and restaurants make more money by turning tables faster.

Tip Calculator

Get rid of the hassle of trying to figure out how much of a tip you should leave. Tip Calculator app features fast bill entry and splitting, making it an ideal tool when dining out with friends. It’s a wonderfully simple, easy to use app and saves you from tipping too little or too much.

TripAdvisor

While most prominently known for their travel-related content, TripAdvisor also helps you find the perfect restaurant on your journey. With millions of restaurant reviews and photos, this is ideal for global travelers looking to try new things.

Tasteful

Healthy eating doesn’t have to be a drag. With the Tasteful app, users can search for restaurants and their menus by selecting their healthy diet preferences. This includes vegetarian, vegan, low carb, gluten free, and paleo!
