Menus & iPads
What do I do if my iPad menu is stuck loading with a spinning wheel?
Triple-tap very quickly anywhere on the screen. A box will appear asking you to reset the menu and confirm the reset, and the app will attempt to download the menu again. This is most often caused by a poor WiFi connection or slow download speeds, so if it keeps happening, check the Wi-Fi signal where the iPads are used.

How do I update the menu on the iPads?
New items, price changes, inactive items, and category moves sync on their own as long as the iPads are connected to WiFi. Each iPad checks for updates every three minutes and whenever the screen wakes, and a small “Menu Updated” note appears in the corner. If changes aren’t showing up, check that the iPad is on Wi-Fi and the last time the menu updated. You can do this by triple tapping quickly in the very bottom right corner of the app (where it says Powered by Uncorkd). A box will appear that says "Device Details" and show if the iPad is connected, when it last updated, and asking if you want to reset the menu. Any normal menu changes will sync on their own. The only time a manual reset of the menu is needed by triple tapping in the bottom right corner is if you make design changes to the menu from the App Preferences page in the web portal.
I changed the menu design and the iPad looks the same
Design changes made in App Preferences, and new home-screen sections, need a manual menu reset. Triple-tap the bottom-right corner of the menu (where it says Powered by Uncorkd), then tap Reset in the Device Details box that appears. The app will download the new design files and all menu data again.
How do I reset the menu for the next table?
Triple-tap the top-middle of the screen on your logo. The splash screen comes back and the previous guest’s selections are cleared, no restart needed.
How do we lock the iPads so guests stay in the menu?
Use Apple’s Guided Access. In Settings, open Accessibility, then Guided Access, turn it on, and set a passcode you’ll remember. Open the Uncorkd app and triple-tap the home button, tap Options and turn on Sleep/Wake Button, then tap Start. To exit later, triple-tap again and enter your passcode.
Why can’t I add a category to an item?
Menus use a three-level structure: section, category, subcategory. Items attach to the third level. If a category isn’t appearing in the dropdown, add a subcategory beneath it on the Categories page. If you don’t need three levels, give the subcategory the same name as the category. For example, if you only need one "Cocktails" category, you still need to create the Section > Category > Subcategory as: Cocktails > Cocktails > Cocktails on the Categories page.
Tips for adding a new drink
Search the database with the producer name plus the varietal or type, then narrow down with vintage or appellation. If a bottle isn’t in the database, you can create it yourself. The database includes wines, beers, and spirits. Any cocktails or other drinks should be created on the Menu Management > Cocktails page.
How do we customize the menu’s design?
Almost everything lives under Preferences. App Preferences is where you choose a theme, colors, fonts, and background images. Venue Information holds your logo, which should be 200 x 75 pixels with a transparent background. You can also enable a splash screen with a 1024 x 768 image, run a slideshow while iPads are idle, and edit the Info Page for events or private dining. Remember to reload each iPad after design changes (see above).
What size should menu section images be?
It depends on your app theme and how many sections your home screen has. Themes 1 to 5 place images in a circle, from 232 x 232 pixels for a two-section menu down to 100 x 100 for ten sections. Theme 6 shows them square, from 256 x 256 down to 120 x 120. Theme 7 images run the full width of the screen. Tell us your theme and section count and we’ll send the exact sizes, or see the "Help Topics" button in the lower left corner while logged into the web portal for a page with exact sizes.
Can we show the live menu on our own website?
Yes. Paste one line of HTML into any page on your site and your live menu appears right there, always current, with nothing to re-upload:
<iframe height="1200" scrolling="yes" src="https://app.uncorkd.biz/user/widget/new_widget.html?venue=IPADLOGIN" width="800"></iframe>
Replace IPADLOGIN with the login you use on your iPads, and adjust the height and width to fit your page.
